Job Title: Junior Agribusiness Advisor

 

Job Location: Accra, Greater Accra

 

Job Description

  • Supporting the the development and implementation of E4D-Ghana Programs partnership projects in the Agriculture sector
  • Facilitating administrative and logistical procedures for program activities in coordination with technical advisors and GIZ finance and administration team
  • Support in managing knowledge to facilitate effective and efficient information use in the program Managing information flow around meetings and events in preparation and follow-up
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations for data and document management; and shared calendars
  • Maintain a working relationship with Program partners and other relevant institutions
  • Collecting, analyzing and filing data for monitoring and evaluation purposes
  • Independent research work on topical issues in agribusiness
  • Supporting in making choices of crops, markets, and other intermediary supply chain services in partnership project acquisition and management
  • Supporting to provide technical advice in the development of production schedules and adoption of viable production systems (block farms, Nucleus Farms etc.)
  • Supporting TL in stakeholder and relationship management with external partners
  • Supporting the TL in acquisitions in line with E4D Country Strategy
  • Performing any other Program related tasks that may be assigned but not stated in this job description

 

 

Tasks

 

Supporting to advise the partner institution(s)

  • Assists and monitors the development and implementation of project/programme plans and activities in close consultation with counterparts and cooperation partners
  • Contributes to preparing and implementing the coordination process, joint project/programme activities and work at the national level, meso and local levels
  • Deals with the design, preparation and implementation of workshops, seminars and other events on issues connected with the project/programme’s area of activity
  •  Supports in developing and organizing quality assurance measures and suggests necessary changes, improvements and initiatives
  • Supports in building the capacity of stakeholders in Private Partnerships (DPPs)

 

Networking and Cooperation

  • Co-operates with and ensures regular contacts, dialogues with partners in order to enhance and maintain good working relationships.
  • Organises and follows-up on meetings with partners

 

Knowledge management

  • Compiles, reviews and organises information and documents on the implementation of Agribusiness related projects and ensures knowledge management
  •  Supports the programme’s monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Establishes and regularly updates a database on information, data and figures
  • Ensures component documentation on the server’s filing systems, in Data management Systems and shared calendars is up to date and well-organised
  • Supports preparation of reports and presentation materials for external and internal use
  • Contributes to public relation materials and fact sheets

 

Management and Coordination Tasks

  • Assists in the coordination, organisation and implementation of relevant activities in cooperation with technical advisors and partners
  • Event and participants‘ management; reserves venues, makes travel arrangements, travel costs reimbursement, participant registration, logistical issues of activities etc
  • Compiles relevant information for collaborative activities and missions, also with other GIZ programmes

 

General Duties

  • Familiarity with GIZ corporate identity, planning, implementation and reporting procedures
  • Represents the interests of the GIZ and always acts on its behalf
  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management, also if these are not explicitly cited in the job description

 

 

Qualification and Requirements

  • A minimum of a university degree in Agriculture science, Agriculture Economics or any related field
  • At least two years relevant practical experience in agriculture and value chain development; or research
  • At least basic knowledge and a strong interest in the topics of value chain development and youth employment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Motivated team player with an organized, independent, systematic, proactive, detail- and goal-oriented work approach
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex issues  
  • Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
