An agro based industry located in the Central Region of Ghana  is looking for suitably qualified candidates for the position of Head of Security

Job Description

  • Develop and implement effective security strategies and programs for the Plantations
  • Effectively implement all Unilever security policies and provide reports accordingly
  • Effectively coordinate all security service providers on the Plantation to deliver maximum security and protection of all company assets and properties
  • Supervise regular patrols of the fields by guards and the Police to prevent stealing of fresh fruit bunch (FFB)
  • Supervise guards at various points to ensure that vehicles entering and leaving the Plantation are checked to prevent stealing of company property
  • Undertake routine inspection of the field to check any abnormal occurrences likely to affect lives, property and the business and take the necessary action
  • Supervise guards on their various duty posts to ensure that proper records are kept, and life and property are protected
  • Undertake random visits to verify process of goods and alertness of the security personnel at the factory
  • Supervise guards to ensure that all vehicles and visitors entering the office and residential areas are checked and searched where applicable
  • Cross check and follow up on records of movement of persons into offices and residential areas and advises management accordingly
  • Undertake regular review of security strategies to provide solution in ensuring that all gaps are closed, and issues resolved
  • Arrange special cover for bungalows and offices when vacated by occupants during weekends, holidays, etc.
  • Supervise guards in the event of riot or civil commotion to protect lives of employees, dependents and all 3P on the premises of the company
  • Gather and promptly forward information and intelligence reports on suspicious movements and activities of employees and contractors and the community likely to lead to unrest
  • Submit situational and investigation reports on matters of security concern on monthly basis
  • Supervise the preparation of daily/weekly duty and shift roster and enforce implementation
  • Check on daily attendance records of all security personnel and takes appropriate action
  • Organize and supervise guards for special operations to track down criminal activities as directed through HRBP or any Management representative and carries other relevant duties directed by the HRBP
  • Assists in identifying Skill gaps within the guards and organize periodic training to close gaps. 20. Ensure all theft cases regarding company property are prosecuted and the company is always represented in court/tribunal whenever a case involving Security Personnel or stealing is called
  • Carry out quarterly risk assessment in the offices and official residences and advise management on gaps identified and proposed risks mitigation strategies
  • Submit quarterly report with regards to country risks and site risks to management
  • Annual review of security standard operation procedures to cater for emerging security risks in all security post
  • Draft/review security contingency plans for the site and carry out training/drills for those with security responsibilities
  • Establish assessment criteria for evaluating the performance of 3rd party security guards

Qualification and Requirements

  • A minimum of a First Degree with security experience from a recognize security institution
  • Must have at least 5 years working experience
  • Must have sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • Must have strong management and leadership skills
  • Must have excellent communication, influencing, engagement and negotiation skills
  • Must have basic IT skills with working knowledge in MS office applications and electronic security systems
  • Must have report writing skills
