Job Description

PEG delivers Payg-As-You-Go (PAYG) asset-based financing to consumers who lack both access to reliable electricity and formal banking services. PEG’s anchor product - a basic solar home system that includes six lights, a phone charger, a radio, and a TV - allows consumers living on $5-10 per day to access clean light for working and studying after hours, avoid harmful air pollution from kerosene based lighting solutions, and also build credit for additional products and services over time. To date, PEG has raised over $45 million and has over 450 full time staff across Ghana, Ivory Coast and Senegal. PEG has also won numerous awards, including the prestigious 2017 Ashden International Award for excellence in sustainable energy, and was named as one of the “fastest growing companies in Africa” by the London Stock Exchange. The Commercial Director (Ghana) is in overall charge of the country Sales & Marketing functions; Field Sales, Sales Operations, Marketing. 


The job holder is also responsible for capability development in these functions for the successful deployment of new business products and channels. 

  • Achievement of the company’s monthly/quarterly/annual sales revenue plan by product category/channel
  • Management of the customer Cost to Acquire at or below the agreed target cost
  • Driving the development of all Non-Business As Usual (NBAU) initiatives to achieve the KPIs agreed for these streams
  • Management of credit loans across all product portfolios and channels within the agreed parameters
  • Ensuring that the Sales Operations team is adequately structured with the appropriate processes to provide Field Sales with the support needed to operate effectively and efficiently
  • Development and implementation of a local Marketing strategy/programme of activities which supports delivery of the key Commercial objectives of the business
  • Assessing the strengths and gaps in capability of both individuals and teams within the Commercial function and deploying programmes and initiatives to provide colleagues with the core skills required to perform each role
  • Coach and mentor all direct reports to maximise their effectiveness and ensure delivery of the agreed KPIs/objectives
  • As a member of the country SMT, contribute to the development of plans and initiatives to improve and grow the business

 

Qualification and Requirements

  • A minimum of a Degree is required 
  • At least 10 years core Sales experience in a dynamic and professional business environment (preferably telecom or FMCG) at least the last 5 of which have been spent leading a large Sales team (national or regional)
  • Demonstrable success in delivering strong business growth in a profitable manner Strong leadership skills, a can-do attitude and a willingness to roll up the sleeves and get fully involved at the heart of the business
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment and still prioritise and deliver the core KPIs
  • Comfortable managing relationships at all levels in the business and externally, a strong and articulate communicator
  • Data driven with strong analytical skills
