Job Title: Commercial Manager

Job Location: Accra(Ashaiman), Greater Accra

Job Description

  • Managing first-line managers responsible for sourcing, plant and nursery operations, operations
  • Business controlling role including financial modelling, operational efficiency improvement, maintenance and asset management structures
  • Acts as the sales lead for creating a pipeline for new waste sources (industries) and the sales of compost, seedlings/leafy vegetables in the B2B market
  • Reporting to the MD of the Holding company in the Netherlands


  • Managing and motivating a team of people with a broad spectrum of experiential backgrounds, motivating individuals and groups to achieve corporate objectives
  • Achieving industrial harmony for growth and development is a great competency
  • Human resource management is therefore part of the competencies expected of the ideal person to be recruited for the position

Product Marketing/Sales and Sourcing

  • The final products to be marketed and sold constitute the commercial dimensions of the business
  • It is part of the core responsibilities of the person, envisaged for the position of commercial manager
  • Engages with public / government to fix acceptable rates for waste management to boost commercial performance

Qualification and Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 st Degree from a recognized university
  • Experience in building business (units) to a profitable level
  • Team management experience with a natural ability to motivate people individually and in a team setting
  • Experience in management processes, including planning, monitoring and reporting
  • Experience of working in a social enterprise environment is strongly preferred
  • Entrepreneurial attitude is most desirable
  • Preferably, with a proven track record of working in a less-endowed environment (Deprived Communities)
  • Positive attitude and perseverance
  • Ability to understand the language of government and NGO sector
  • Ability to communicate effectively among the work force and with the head office is a core competence
  • Having a competence in people skills is a must, as the position is cut for a team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • This is an open ended contract with an initial period of 12 months, renewable, based on performance

Finance and Accounting

  • Administrative Knowledge in finance and accounting is necessary to be able to appreciate the accounting reports received from the accountant, and to be able to correctly interpret financial reports to the head office
