Job Title: Quality Assurance / Quality Control Chemist


Job Location: Tarkwa, Western Region


Job Summary

  • The QA/QC chemist is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and overseeing reports of all client results and maintain quality of analytical procedures


Job Description

  • Responsible for investigations and implementation of new laboratory technology in conjunction with the Laboratory Manager and QA Administrator 
  • Sample and data management
  • Develop standard operating procedures and training documents for all instrumentation and methods
  • Carry out problem solving investigations, picking checks and preparing jobs for final approval by the laboratory manager
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate preparation for external audits and also duly represent the company on such exercises and conduct internal audits
  • Running independent analytical checks to ensure implemented operational controls are in place and are effective
  • Manage the process of customer query reception, complaint follow ups, CAR’s and ensuring effective and timeous close out of CARs
  • Active participation in implementation and maintenance of ISO 17025:2005 standards
  • Supervision, verification or preparation of calibration standards for use in the laboratory
  • Validation of new methods, preparation and verification of calibration standards
  • Ensure that analyses are done according to documented procedures
  • Supervision and carrying out both classical and instrumental analyses (AAS, etc.) of samples in the laboratory


Qualification and Requirements

  • Formal Science qualifications (BSc Chemistry) are desirable
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in laboratories is desirable
  • Good understanding of analytical procedures and instrumentation
  • Innovative and having a systematic approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work with both managerial, technical and junior staff
  • High level of computer literacy and familiarization with Microsoft office software and LIMS systems
  • Very good communication skills
