Job Description

The technical professional is responsible for:

  • Implementing daily operational aspects of all production related issues of GIZ ComCashew with particular focus on the trilateral cooperation (BRA-Ghana-Germany)
  • Further developing the area of responsibility in accordance with the specified quality standards
  • maintaining good flow of communication and information between all involved institutions and counterparts and GIZ

The technical professional performs the following tasks:

  • Management and coordination
  • Responsible for jointly coordinating the production related under the guidance of ComCashew management,with a particular focus on micro and macroeconomic questions and research
  • Liaison between project partners in Ghana and other African countries and ComCashew management
  • Manages consultants and advise private and public sector partners of ComCashew in Ghana and potentially in other ComCashew countries
  • Works as an production advisor for the Matching Fund for production related projects in strong operational relation with the head of components
  • Responsible for writing work flow procedures, organizing meetings, updating project schedules
  • Coordinates and assists in preparing and conducting project activities.
  • Provides technical assistance to plant production as well as nursery management curriculum development by ATVET
  • Participates in formulating project action plans, implementing and documenting training and other project events
  • Assists the project with organisational and management issues
  • Regularly consults with the GIZ officer responsible for the contract and cooperation and Director Private production on project activities
  • Participates in formulating project action plans and helps synchronise the planning and budgeting system

Communication and networking

  • Develops and maintains contact with important key project partners and stakeholders
  • Supports cooperation and dialogue with partners, assists with public relation work and cooperates with local communities, partner organisations and individuals in the project environment and with other projects to improve and maintain good working relationships
  • Provides technical assistance to local and international experts
  • Ensures knowledge management: collects processes and distributes relevant information, monitors communication and interaction between government institutions, NGOs and society through analyses of the media, direct dialogue, participation in meetings and seminars etc

Data management, analysis and monitoring 

  • Is in-charge of tracking project statistics in the designated project area
  • Compiles, processes and manages the database of key beneficiaries of the project
  • Responsible for preparing and reviewing documentations, files and data in the project area
  • Monitors progress and keep M&E database on the ComCashew initiative up-to-date
  • Participates in developing project work plan
  • Keeps all documents on shared drive and DMS of GIZ

Other duties/additional tasks

  • Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management
  • Prepares training materials and conducts coaching for partner institutions


Qualification and Requirements

  • A minimum of a University degree (masters) Agronomy or Agro economics with a strong research focus
  • At least 5 years’ professional experience in a comparable position
  • Experience with working in multicultural environment, with good interpersonal relationship and negotiation skills
  • Experience working with national partners in Ghana
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and create and maintain effective relationships with private companies and government personnel


Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage your own time and responsibilities independently
  • Good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
  • Strong managerial and organisational competence
  • Willingness to travel regularly
  • Very good knowledge of the English Language and relevant Ghanaian language(s)
  • Basic Knowledge (reading) of the German language is a prerequisite, knowledge of French and Portuguese would be an asset
