A Leading Generator Distribution Company based in Accra, Ghana, with branches in other regions, is looking to employ a dynamic and proactive individual with strong leadership skills and technical knowledge and experience in the power  generator systems service and maintenance business. 


Job Title: Head of Service Operations


Job Location: Accra, Greater Accra


Job Description

The successful candidate would have prime responsibility for technical leadership while supporting sales and customer engineering and operating facilities. He/She will: 

  • Lead the Technical team by managing all strategic operations, processes and resourcing to achieve and maintain operational excellence
  • Design, implement and facilitate the roll out of an annual Technical Plan with quarterly updates and revisions to the business plan
  • Manage and provide technical expertise and assistance to the field technicians assigned to the various branch offices
  • Work closely with the Finance team and the COO to develop the Technical CAPEX and OPEX budgets for area of responsibility and monitor operations to ensure that all expenditure is within budget
  • Develop and maintain long- term relationships with customers through provision of timely after sales and professional customer services
  • Oversee business development activities of field service operations to evaluate potential for revenue. Make technical presentations to demonstrate how products meet client needs
  • Manage team effectively to achieve agreed KPI’s ensuring they understand and observe company rules, regulations and safety procedures
  • Organize and manage the technical and commercial operations of the Company
  • Manage control of the service business assets, vehicles, computers, mobile phones, tools and instruments
  • Evaluate all terms and conditions of tenders and contracts being considered by the service division

Administering payroll 

  • Set up employee files 
  • Verify and code timesheets and hours worked 
  • Calculate employee salaries, deductions and contributions 
  • Enter payroll information into the computerized accounting system 
  • Calculate source and miscellaneous deductions 
  • Process pay cheques 
  • Update leave and lieu time 
  • Prepare, review and file payroll summaries, journals and reports 
  • Issue Records of Employment

Adhoc / Occasional or Peripheral Duties

  • Undertake such other duties and tasks as may lie within the scope of this post to ensure the effective delivery, management and development of Safe Water Network operations

Inter-Departmental Regular

  • Maintains daily and regular contacts with all Units and Departments

External Relations

  • Maintains contact with the heads of units and departments in other relevant institutions and the general public as and when necessary


Qualification and Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related degree with strong commercial ability
  • At least 8-10 years Electrical Engineering experience in design and testing in a similar or related field
  • Must be dependable and must have a high sense of responsibility, strong problem-solving, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Must have written and verbal communication skills
