Job Description

  • Leadership responsibility to safety by owning safety in all activity relating to drill and blast
  • Assist in the application of the procedure regarding Health, Safety, Technology & Quality and Environment with the company and Clients requirements and submit report to HSEQ Supt on Site
  • Ensure all Mining and Site Regulations are adhered to by your team including road safety regulation on site and public roads
  • Ensure that all operational procedures are defined and adhered to always by the team and are reviewed periodically with the Safety departments
  • Ensure maintenance of all equipment and general administration of the operations is done
  • Assist in supervising the manufacture of product in the truck, delivery of bulk products and down the hole service
  • Provide both explosive safety and drill and blast training to new employees of both Clients and company related to product and services and ensure that knowledge is well applied on the field
  • Responsible for leading the introduction and implementation of any new product, service and technology to the customers operation
  • Provide support to the marketing function by making available case studies on all projects on product or services implemented for the customer
  • Provide technical support in product applications and quality control and lead claim investigation always communicating feedback to project manager and quality team
  • Collaborate with customer team to control drill and blast process including review of drill and blast procedures, and implementing value added services
  • Define and implement continuous improvement programs and monitor KPIs geared towards value addition to the clients and Maxam operation
  • Ensure that all TAP requirements as enshrined in the contracts are fulfilled and communicated to the customer on time
  • Report daily and monthly to our Client Representative regarding our fulfilled commitments


Qualification and Requirements

  • A minimum of a BSc Mining Engineering Blast Certificate will be an advantage
  • At least Two (2) years working experience in the mining or quarry operations
  • Should be able prepare daily, weekly and monthly technical blast reports
  • Should be able to prepare, monitor and analyze KPI for improvement programs
  • Must be able to represent the company in any meeting conveying right information to the client
  • Must be able to undertake at least the basic technical service to the customer
  • Must be able corporate fully with drill and blasts departments of client to ensure that needed support is given
  • Must be able to investigate incidents and analyze causes
  • Must be competent in IT and computer applications
  • Must be able to bring value to the operations of the customer
  • Must be able to read and understand drill and blast terminologies to be able to apply in operations
