Job Location: Accra, Greater Accra


Job Summary

The Technical Advisor is responsible for:

  • Implementing daily operational aspects of all issues related to the project assigned to him/her under the programme
  • Processing technical aspects and further developing the area of responsibility in accordance with specified quality standards
  • Supporting the maintenance of a good flow of communication and information between all institutions and counterparts involved in the project and GIZ


Job Description

Coordination and on-site support to projects:

  • Provides support directly to project activities that involve the upgrading of training facilities, and modernizing overall training environment on various project sites
  • Prepares jointly with partner institutions requests on procurement according to GIZ O&R Monitors and co-ordinates deliveries of items and services from suppliers, contractors, together with GIZ Country Office and / or other parties where meaningful
  • Processes complaints about goods procured, follow-up with supplier, demanding corrections, ensures communication among all project stakeholders
  • Develops contact with all important stakeholders and ensures smooth communication flow
  • Assists national and international consultants and staff in carrying out their work on various project sites
  • Coordinates the use of transport capacities in accordance with the operational plan of each project
  • Participates in formulating project action plans and reports any irregularities to management
  • Prepares the logistics of training provided by international partners coming to Ghana (such as Bosch, WaBCO, ZF, CaseIH, Groz & Beckert, Lectra, IBC, etc.)

Other duties/additional tasks

  • Assists the projects with all organisational and management issues


Qualification and Requirements

  • Degree in Construction Management and/or Construction Technology
  • Holds a valid driver’s licence

Professional experience

  • Minimally 5 years of professional working experience in a similar position
  • Experience in supervising construction projects, procurement and project management


Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, internet and computer application (eg. MS Office)
  • Fluent written and oral knowledge of the English language
  • Proactive and independent working attitude
  • Intercultural skills
  • Strong managerial and organisational competence
  • Result oriented performance
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to update skills as required by the tasks to be performed-corresponding measures are agreed with management
