Job Title: Transport Officer – 1

Job Summary

  • Assist superior with the planning, developing, and coordinating of transport, safety, materials, equipment, personnel and environment to ensure compliance with required standards and achieve effectiveness for the Company

 

Job Description

  • To assist with development and formulation of transport policies and procedures to provide a safe working atmosphere and ensure compliance with all statutory transport and logistics regulations and good industry practices
  • To prepare trip forms, participate in trip inspections (pre and post) for all Company trucks or operational vehicles, supervise, monitor and analyze trips made by Company Drivers
  • To ensure good housekeeping of the Company’s vehicles, plants, tools, equipment and the environment on daily basis
  • To coordinate with superior to ensure that Company trucks are provided with the right quality of fuel for trips and security seals used consistently for Company trucks
  • To coordinate and ensure that health, safety and environment policies and procedures are adhered to the latter and Company Drivers, Drivers Assistants, Forklift Operators, etc are in the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and use the appropriate working tools at all times
  • To participate and organize tool box meetings and ensure that policies are disseminated appropriately to all categories of employees (especially Company Drivers, Drivers Assistants, Forklift Operators, etc participate fully in the meetings) according to international standards

 

Qualification and Requirements

  • A minimum of a first degree, Advance Diploma or Diploma in Transport & Logistics, Health, Safety & Environmental or Management Studies or other related discipline
  • Masters Degree
  • Experience of working in a similar role-minimum of three (3) years post-qualification
  • Possess Dangerous Goods Certification
  • Licenced Member of a recognized or certified Transport & Logistics Group 

 

Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive knowledge in transport/health, safety and environment requirements and functions
  • Understanding of basic accounting and other general fields in the relevant industry
  • Submission of management reports to the Managing Director
  • Knowledge and consciousness of secure internal controls and economic implications of breaches of controls in a logistics and shipping environment

  • Willingness to participate in meetings, trainings, presentations, etc
