Job Summary

  • The Stock Manager position requires an individual who will devise ways to optimize inventory control procedures, inspect the levels of stock to identify consumer purchase trends and ensure that product stock is adequate for all distribution channels

Job Description

  • Establish and implement procedures, policies, goals and objectives to optimize inventory control procedures, including software monitoring
  • Inspect the levels of business supplies and raw material to identify shortages
  • Ensure product stock is adequate for all distribution channels
  • Review inventory and sales records to prepare reports for management and budget departments to determine stock for re-order or stock to discontinue
  • Examine products purchased for resale or received for storage to assess the condition in which each product or item arrives
  • Work with managers and sales officials to estimate consumer demand and determine the types and amounts of stock to be bought
  • Plan budgets and authorize payments and merchandise returns
  • Assign employees to specific duties related to stock management and display
  • Examine merchandise to ensure that it is correctly priced and displayed and that it functions as advertised
  • Direct and supervise employees engaged in inventory-taking, stocking and reconciling stock sold and returned products
  • Supervise work activities of subordinates, such as cleaning and organizing stock rooms, shelves and stocking units
  • Plan and prepare work schedules and keep records of employees' work schedules and performance


Qualification and Requirements 

  • A minimum of a BSc/BA in business administration, logistics or relevant field
  • At least 3-5 years work experience
  • Proven experience as inventory manager or similar position
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Working knowledge of inventory management software 
  • Ability to accurately track inventory and create reports
  • An analytical mind with strong math skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
