Street Children Empowerment Foundation (SCEF) is changing the tears of street and vulnerable children on a pillow to a strong shoulder to lean on through our unique social work approach. We also offer complementary education services with schools these children attend in Ashiedu Keteke Sub-Metro District through our Read Right Club, Sexual Awareness Education, Arts Club and Sports Club. We include these children in activities & workshops to emphasize the importance to retain their right to education and involve their parents/guardians in unique micro-enterprises & village saving and loans scheme to provide sustainable improvements in their lives.

Job Title: Accounts Officer


Job Location: Accra, Greater Accra


Job Description

  • The main task of the accounts officer is to analyze SCEF’s financial activities
  • The accounts officer is responsible for the promotion of all of SCEF’s services and looks after the quality standards to ensure clients are satisfied with our services
  • The accounts officer maintains the growth targets of finance of the organisation
  • The accounts officer helps in solving due accounts of the past
  • The accounts officer looks for, identifies and manages financial risks
  • The accounts officer helps in the pricing of items for fundraising sales and projects
  • The accounts officer reviews all the necessary documents to avoid disputes
  • If any financial problem arises, it is the accounts officer’s duty to look after the matter and solve it
  • The accounts officer looks for areas to cut the cost of the organisation. This helps in gaining reserve
  • The accounts officer is responsible for all financial communications with donors and partners
  • The accounts officer is in charge of all the accounts maintained of the organisation
  • The account officer prepares the budget of the organisation. He compares previous years’ budgets and tries to improve the drawbacks
  • During crisis situations the accounts officer should be prepared to act as a leader
  • The accounts officer must maintain payments and receipts
  • The accounts officer must ensure all the bills are paid properly
  • The accounts officer makes sure that all audit objectives and audit statements are done properly


Qualification and Requirements 

  • A minimum of a degree is required
  • At least 5 years work experience
  • Ability to work in a global team-based environment that includes board members, social workers, and volunteers
  • Ability to accept newly assigned projects or duties as they become necessitated
  • Oral, written, and presentation English language skills are required. Ga, Twi, Ewe and Hausa proficiency is a strong plus



  • Comfortable with computer handling. Should know how to handle accounts through computer systems
  • Must have booking and financial accounting skills
  • Problem solving skills are necessary
  • Professionalism is a must for the account officer
  • Time management is compulsory
  • Must be able to work with teams and lead during crisis
  • Should work as office administrator
