A career in accounting presents one of those few job opportunities that allow you to work across several industries and sectors. Accountants can work full time for any company, start out an accounting firm or freelance for many organisations at a time.<\/span><\/p>\n

For many Ghanaians, the foundation for a career in Accounting is set in High School. For a strong start, it is advisable to have a background in business. After high school, an aspiring accountant has the option of studying for a degree or going straight for a professional certificate.  However, many people from non-business backgrounds have made their way into the sector by studying accounting in the university. A degree or a professional certificate in accounting is required in order to practice as an accountant in Ghana.<\/span><\/p>\n

An advanced career in Accounting often requires professional certification. Options in Ghana, include the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA),  Institute of Chartered Accountants \u2013 Ghana (ICAG), and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).<\/span><\/p>\n
