As a security agent, various spheres of expertise are required to make it effective at executing real-life tasks and solving crime in all areas.

1. Basic Recruitment: Basic recruitment refers to the mass recruitment of men/women above the age of 18 to enforce law and order. Qualification requirement is normally WASSCE. Enlisted persons start as constables, and work their way up.

2. Graduate Recruitment: This level of recruitment is open to graduates with a minimum of a Degree qualification. The aim of the graduate recruitment is to attract professionals from all walks of life into the service.

The service also conducts recruitments geared at artisans and skilled men/women who can provide specialized services to the service. This filtering can fall under any of the two depending on the type of vocation or skillset required.

General Eligibility Requirements for Application

Here are the general eligibility requirement for the recent police recruitment, as appeared on the 5th September 2016, Edition of Daily Graphic, Pages 77.

You must be a Ghanaian

Must possess a minimum of a first degree, not below a second class lower from an accredited university, and the relevant professional qualification where it has been specified.

Must not be 18 years and above and not more than 32 years

Must be at least 5 feet 8 inches (173cm) tall for Males and 5 feet 4 inches (163cm) for females.

Must be physically fit by Police Standards

Must have completed National Service.

Apart from these general eligibility requirements, the Police Service have specified 13 different departments with specialization requirements needed to work in those department. With the recruitment of different caliber of professionals into the service, we expect to see more professionalism among Police men, good customer service at Police stations, less corruption, better communication, more active community liaison and engagement, and a generally more efficient and friendlier Police Service.

These professionals will provide good training and oversight to the men on the ground so they can conduct their work according to the laws of the country and know when to respect the rights of the citizenry. Cases of Policemen abusing their rights and using maximum force on the public abound. Hopefully, all these issues will undergo drastic improvement.

What Does The Ghana Police Graduate Recruitment Mean for the Job Seeker?

The Police service offers one of the best career paths for graduates. It offers the best of both world; an opportunity to serve your country and community, fight the canker of crime, and enjoy a good career with clear path to rise in ranks. Talking about rise in ranks, you just need as little effort as pursuing available self-upgradement courses and getting promoted as you do more years of service.

The ultimate motivation is a job security with certainty of not getting laid off, unlike in the corporate world, and the big cedis start flowing once you attain the rank of ASP and above. You also get to have free accommodation, utilities, and vehicle (depending on your rank), all paid for from government purse.

If you are a graduate still searching for a job, this is an opportunity you should jump on without hesitation. Unless you’re hell bent on never pursuing a uniformed profession, this is one of your best shots at getting a job since the recruitment is usually on a mass scale and the probability of you getting selected if you meet all the requirements is typically higher than any job listing in the corporate world.

If you decide not to apply for the unifomed profession, you can check out latest jobs on Jobberman for your next opportunity.

Level up with Jobberman <a class="article-body-links"href="https://www.jobberman.com.gh/">here.

Also Check out Recruitmet<a class="article-body-links"href="https://www.jobberman.com.gh/recruitment-in-ghanas-public-sector/"> in Ghana’s Public Sector.

The Ghana Police service opened up applications for recruitment into the service.
