Ghana

Executive summary

Talent in Ghana’s banking and tech sectors is not just scarce. It is scarce in very specific places that employers can identify and plan for.

Ghana’s banks, fintechs, technology firms and insurers are increasingly drawing on the same narrow pool of specialist talent. Most are hiring without a clear view of where the real shortage sits.

This Jobberman Ghana benchmark analyses 1,008 live job listings across Banking, Finance & Insurance and IT & Telecoms in 2026. It combines them with national labour statistics, regulatory filings and global benchmarks to answer three questions every employer is asking:

Where is talent genuinely scarce?

What does it cost to keep it?

Where can employers develop the specialist skills they depend on, rather than compete for them?

The short answer: the shortage is concentrated in risk, compliance, cybersecurity and data roles, which rarely reach the open market. Remote international employers pay far more than local ones for these skills. And entry into these careers does not require a four-year degree.

Key findings

Only 20–25 of 1,008 live job listings in Ghana’s banking, finance, insurance and tech sectors named a specialist risk, compliance, cybersecurity or data title in 2026.

Ghana’s scarcest specialist roles are often filled through networks and direct search, so job boards show only a small part of real demand.

Advertised Software & Data roles in Ghana pay GHS 3,600–4,800 per month (about USD 306–408), the only function with real top-end pay.

Remote international employers pay mid-level and senior Software & Data professionals in Accra, Lagos and Nairobi USD 2,500–5,000+ per month.

56% of listings require a bachelor’s degree, but more than one in four (26.7%) already accept a Diploma or HND.

Fewer than 2% of listings ask for an MBA or MSc. The real constraint is applied, mid-level experience.

93% of Software & Data listings are tagged “IT & Telecoms” and only 7% “Banking, Finance & Insurance”, which suggests finance is doing more tech hiring than job categories show.

Ghana’s fintech transaction value grew 50.8% year on year to GH¢4.54 trillion in 2025, across 63 licensed entities, according to the Bank of Ghana.

Only four of 1,008 listings came from insurers, all in general IT roles. None named an actuarial, underwriting, data or cybersecurity title.

Engineering & Technology has the lowest applicant competition of any function, at 39.5 applications per listing, compared with 59.9 for Software & Data.

Download the full report

<a class="article-body-links"href="https://www.jobberman.com.gh/discover/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/Banking-Finance-Guide-_Hero-Asset.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Download: Ghana 2026 Tech & Financial Talent Benchmark (PDF)

Pillar 1: The scarcest specialist roles rarely reach the open market

Only 20–25 of the 1,008 listings analysed named a cybersecurity, risk, compliance or data-science title.
