From mastering grilling techniques to understanding business operations, participants will be prepared to run sustainable grill ventures.

The training programme will cover key areas including <a class="article-body-links"href="https://www.jobberman.com.gh/learning">Entrepreneurial Mindset & Soft Skills, Financial Literacy & Management, and Operating & Scaling Micro-Enterprises. Participants will gain practical knowledge in customer service, communication, business planning, financial management, sales and business growth strategies, alongside technical grilling skills.

The initiative comes at a critical time for Ghana’s poultry sector. Despite the country’s potential to meet a larger share of domestic demand, cheap frozen chicken imports continue to dominate the market, accounting for more than 90 percent of poultry consumed nationally. Local poultry producers, faced with rising feed costs, infrastructure constraints and limited market opportunities, often struggle to compete. This has limited growth across the poultry value chain and reduced income-generating opportunities for many Ghanaians.

According to Asiwome Biekro, Program Manager for the HAPPY Program at Jobberman Ghana, the Grill & Grow initiative was designed to address these challenges by creating new market opportunities for locally produced chicken while empowering women with the skills and confidence to build successful businesses.

“Many women have the desire to start a business but face barriers ranging from limited access to capital and business knowledge to uncertainty about where to begin. Through Grill & Grow, we are providing practical training, mentorship and a pathway into an industry with strong market demand,” she said.

Beyond training, the initiative seeks to strengthen local poultry value chains by increasing demand for Ghana chicken through innovative market access opportunities. By equipping women to establish grilling businesses, the programme creates new channels for locally produced chicken to reach consumers while supporting entrepreneurship and job creation.

As part of the initiative, Jobberman Ghana will host the Ghana Chicken Fair, a public event designed to promote the consumption of locally produced chicken while showcasing the skills acquired by participants. The fair will bring together poultry producers, agribusinesses, vendors and consumers for a day of live grilling, product exhibitions and free tasting experiences, helping to increase awareness and demand for Ghana chicken.

The campaign will also identify top-performing participants to operate 10 fully equipped grilling centres across Accra. Each team will receive starter inventory, mentorship and ongoing support, enabling them to launch and grow their businesses with confidence. These centres are expected to create sustainable livelihood opportunities while serving as long-term outlets for locally produced chicken.

For participants, the opportunity extends beyond learning a trade. It provides a pathway to financial independence, business ownership and long-term economic participation. For the wider poultry sector, it represents a practical approach to stimulating local demand, supporting producers and strengthening Ghana’s agricultural economy.

The Grill & Grow campaign forms part of the broader HAPPY Program, which focuses on creating economic opportunities across four key agricultural value chains: rice, soybeans, tomato and poultry. By linking women’s entrepreneurship to the poultry value chain, the initiative contributes to a more resilient agricultural ecosystem while advancing inclusive economic growth.

The Grill & Grow initiative will deliver a zero-cost week of hands-on training to equip participants with the skills to launch and manage their grill businesses

[1521
2163,2162,2164,1686

0":"post-21625","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-impact-initiatives","8":"tag-ghana-chicken-fair","9":"tag-grill-and-grow","10":"tag-impact-initiatives","11":"tag-mastercard-foundation-agric-project
["GET
