I was scrolling through LinkedIn one quiet evening when a post stopped me in my tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It asked a simple question:
\u201cWhat kind of employee have you been this year?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not how busy<\/em>.
Not how stressed<\/em>.
Not how many emails you sent<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just\u2026 What kind?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At first, it felt uncomfortable. Because if we\u2019re honest, the year wasn\u2019t clean. It wasn\u2019t perfect. It was full of long days, short patience, missed deadlines, quiet wins, and unspoken frustrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Across offices in Ghana, from bustling open office spaces in Accra to modest offices in Kumasi, Takoradi, and Tamale,  we all showed up differently this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of us were the reliable ones<\/a>: always available, consistently delivering, even when tired. The people others leaned on without always saying thank you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some were the quiet performers: not loud in meetings, not visible on WhatsApp threads, but deeply committed to getting the work done right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some were the survivors<\/strong>: showing up despite burnout, personal challenges, family responsibilities, or uncertainty. They may not have shined, but they stayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some were the learners<\/a>: asking questions, making mistakes, growing in public, and choosing progress over pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And if we\u2019re being honest, some of us were the checked-out ones<\/a>: physically present but emotionally exhausted, just doing enough to get by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This isn\u2019t about shame. It\u2019s about awareness. Because reflection isn\u2019t about beating yourself up, it\u2019s about asking better questions before the new year begins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did you speak up when it mattered<\/a>?
Did you listen when feedback came?
Did you support your teammates or compete with them?
Did you grow, or did you just repeat?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the year closes, Office Buzz isn\u2019t asking for perfection. It\u2019s an inviting conversation. Because the truth is: every year gives us a mirror.<\/strong> And what we do with what we see determines the kind of professional we become next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, as you clear your desk, set your out-of-office, or plan your goals for the new year, pause for a moment. Ask yourself gently, honestly: What kind of employee was I this year\u2026 and who do I want to be next?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s a conversation worth having.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
